South African Brandy from KWV made out of grapes from the Cape and distilled in copper pot stills. Matured in oak, this offers something different from the French offerings, for the brandy-lover looking to branch out. Great value for money too, given that it won best brandy in the world for a second time in the 2011 International Spirits Challenge. 2015 Gold Outstanding Medal Winner – International Wine & Spirits Competition.

IWSC Awards Tasting Note: Nose has remarkable youthful notes of apricot and raisin. Fairly bold entry into the mouth where there is an immediate distribution of rich fruit flavours, good spice and fine Oak. Well rounded and complex. Hint of sweetness in long finish.
Palate: Very soft in the mouth but retains a lemon note, that turns to baked peach in syrup shot through with spicy pepper.
Finish: This is where the spice notes come more to the fore but its all very light and restrained.
Overall: A very credible and much cheaper alternative to French brandy, this is light without being unassuming.
